Sporadic Notes From the Garden 15/09/22

Overcast and cool this morning. Rained in the night. Perfect temperature!

Went out at sunrise (7:30am) to pick blackberries down by the cottage with the water mill. Got about 700g, only picked the biggest, easiest to reach ones

Used another 1.5kg of plums in plum and blackberry jam. Want to see if adding blackberries, which contain higher pectin, get a better set.

Sterre rode by and we swapped a bag of plums and grapes for butternut squash and fig jam

Finished putting the corregated metal roof on the goat shelter. I need to start spending at least one day a week now working on the goat shelter if it’s going to be ready for winter.

Ordered wine yeast to try making plum wine. €7 for a 7g packet, which is good for up to 35l of wine but I don’t intend to make that much this first time around.

Made a large order for green manure seeds and other seeds for the winter garden from Les Refardes
